With its dark green and pink leaves, the Calathea Crimson is a uniquely stunning plant. Her leaves unfurl a lighter green and darken to almost black as they age. Calatheas are commonly called Prayer Plants because their leaves close at night. 

Plant maintenance: Calatheas enjoy weekly waterings, allowing the top 2’ of soil to dry out partially. In winter, it is recommend to water less frequently, to prevent overwatering and root rot. This plant is not very drought tolerant, and extended periods of dryness will cause leaf edges to brown.

Your Calathea will also appreciate being placed in indirect light to dappled sun, in a humid environment, which you can create by misting it frequently, or by placing it in steamy bathrooms and kitchens.
